A Wonderful Beginning to a Fabulous Year!

Hello Parents!

I'm so excited to be working with you and your child this year at Roberts Elementary! Our school has been working very hard to make sure there was a smooth transition for your child. It has been such a huge success with your help and encouragement!

Please familiarize yourself with the information below to ensure a smooth year:

Behavioral Management System -

We have a clip chart system that allows students to earn their way to the treasure box at the end of the day.

Outstanding (Purple) - Treasure box!!
Great Job (Blue)
Role Model (Green) - Everyone begins on this color at the start of the day
Think About It (Yellow) - An oops note may be sent home
Consequences (Orange) - Dependent on time of day: recess or centers may be removed
Parent Contact - An immediate e-mail/oops note home will be sent home

Sticker Chart System -

Students will be receiving a sticker for the color they are on at the end of each day. This will ensure that every child will get an opportunity to earn their way to the treasure box.

Role model (Green) - 1 Sticker
Great job (Blue) - 2 stickers
Outstanding! (Purple) - 3 stickers

When students collect 10 stickers in all, students will be allowed to go into the treasure box!

Homework Folders -

I will be sending homework on a monthly basis. The homework will be going home in their red homework folder. Please make sure to send the folder back at the END of the month after completion of all homework. Homework is a great way to practice the skills we have learned at school at home.

Poetry Folders -

Poetry folders will also be sent home over the weekends to practice reading at home. These will come home dependent on the poems we are reading in the classroom.

Tuesday Folders -

Please check your child's Tuesday folder when it comes home with them. There will be some papers that you will need to sign and return and others for you to keep at home. Occasionally you will find assignments that your child completed in class. If an activity comes home not complete, PLEASE always look over it with your child and ask him or her to tell you all about it. Please encourage your child to always do his or her best work.

Birthdays -

Parents, you may send cookies, cupcakes, or small treats on the morning of your child's birthday. You may also send juice boxes if you would like. PLEASE DO NOT send cakes. Birthday invitations may be sent home from school only if each child in the class is invited. We do not want to hurt anyone's feelings.

Catch of the Week -

Throughout the year, each child will be featured as the catch of the week. Your child will bring home a large poster to be decorated. We will be sharing this in class the week of. I will inform you when your child has been chosen to be the catch of the week. :)

Scholastic Reading Club -

Each month, I will be sending home a Scholastic book order form. Our class activation code is: GHH37 . Please make sure to enter this information when you are ordering so that our class can get points to order more books for our classroom library! Please do not send checks or cash with your child.

Story/Quiet Time -

A short rest time is included in our daily schedule. Children are not required to sleep, but must rest or read quietly. Please remind your child to keep toys and stuffed animals at home. Your child may bring a bath towel (not a beach towel) for your child to rest on.

Extra Clothing -

Please send an extra change of clothing to be left in your child's locker at all times for emergencies. Please put clothing in a ziploc bag, labeled with your child's name, and change out as needed and as seasons change. Please remember if your child uses their extra change of clothes to send in a new set the next school day.

Snack Time -

We will be having a ten-minute snack time daily, Please be sure to send a small and healthy snack to school each morning. If you send a snack in your child's lunchbox, please make sure that your child knows which item is for snack and which items are for lunch. Please label your child's snack with their name.

Healthy snack suggestions: cut up fruit, crackers, cereal or granola bars, gold fish, cut up vegetables, cheese and crackers, etc.

Lunch Time -

You are encouraged to send or purchase a healthy lunch for your child each day. We will be eating lunch each day from 10:56 am -11:26 am. You are welcome to join your child for lunch in the cafeteria, please sign in at the reception desk prior to entering the cafeteria.
